Faculty Awards

The Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs is proud to host the annual Celebration of Faculty each spring to honor our faculty. Each year's recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Award, Distinguished Research Award, Distinguished Service Award, Distinguished Advising Award, William V. Moore Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Award, and Distinguished Adjunct Teaching Award are announced. Recognition is given to those granted tenure and promotion, as well as renewals, positive third-year reviews, post-tenure reviews, and sabbaticals. Honors are presented to faculty who receive the Emeritus/Emerita Faculty title and those receiving Shared Governance Leadership recognition. Information about the upcoming event and awards are provided below.

2019 Celebration of Faculty 

The 2019 Celebration of Faculty occurred on April 24, 2019 in the Stern Center Ballroom. Congratulations to all of the College of Charleston faculty awardees!

This year's award recipients were announced at the Celebration of Faculty on April 24, 2019 and can be found via the award webpages listed below, or in the full event program above. The deadline for all award nominations has passed. Please check back in February 2020 for the next round of nominations, and submission instructions.

Distinguished Teaching Award

Honors roster faculty members who have been designated by their colleagues as typifying high standards and commitment to teaching excellence throughout their careers.

Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Teaching Award

Honors adjunct faculty members who have been designated by faculty colleagues as typifying high standards and a commitment to teaching excellence throughout their careers.

Distinguished Research Award

Honors roster faculty colleagues who have distinguished themselves by a career of significant research.

Distinguished Service Award

Recognizes the outstanding contributions of a colleague who, beyond his or her required duties, has a sustained career of serving the college community in an outstanding and distinguished manner.

Distinguished Advising Award

Honors those roster faculty members who have demonstrated a sustained dedication to students in the area of academic advising.

William V. Moore Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Award

Honors faculty members who have been selected by their peers as exemplifying the teacher-scholar model. 

Emeriti Faculty

Conferred upon retired faculty colleagues who, in the judgment of the appropriate administrators, have a history of exemplary service to the College of Charleston.
