The Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the College of Charleston and a key member of the President's senior staff. The Provost oversees academic programs, faculty affairs and many academic support functions, and works to ensure that the College of Charleston fulfills its institutional mission and goals. December 2018

Provost Brian McGee has been named the 24th president of Quincy University starting July 1, 2019. To learn more about Provost McGee’s tenure at the College, please read The College Today story

Faculty may begin entering final grades electronically via MyCharleston on the Faculty tab on Wednesday, December 5th.  All grades should be submitted by Friday, December 14th, at 12:00 noon. 

Students can enjoy the debut of the second annual Cougar Night Lights holiday light show (festivities begin at 5 p.m. and lights begin at 6 p.m.) on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018. Read more...

November 2018

We are pleased to announce that the Board of Trustees elected Andrew T. Hsu to become the 23rd president of the College of Charleston.

The College now has a password recovery/reset tool. Starting November 29, CofC users will be required to perform a one-time setup of their password tool by entering two authentication methods (e.g., phone number and email) during the next time they log into Outlook or another Office 365 application. The first method will be displayed is the option to download the Authentication App, but you are welcome to choose the "Choose security info" button to change your methods to have a code texted or emailed to you. October 2018

All faculty and academic staff are asked to please complete that 2018 IT Security Awareness Training via CougarEd (http://cofc.myabsorb.com) by December 31, 2018. Emails with detailed instructions were sent out to applicable employees this week. Questions should be directed to itcommunications@cofc.edu please, or notify our office if you need additional assistance.

College of Charleston welcomes 60 new faculty members. According to Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs Brian McGee, “Some of the best and brightest people in the world are members of the College of Charleston faculty. This year, each of our six academic schools has added an impressive number of talented new faculty. We welcome them to our vibrant intellectual community. I know our students will be excited to learn from them.”

The 2018-2019 College Reads! book selection is The Hate U Give  by Angie Thomas (HarperCollins, 2017).

Incoming students received a copy of the book and an interactive Reading Guide. Students were asked to prepare for Convocation by reading the book and selecting one Convocation Project to complete and submit during their small group discussion. Author Angie Thomas will be on campus Monday, January 14, 2019. This is a change from the previously advertised date in mid-October. The feature film based on the book is scheduled for wide release on October 19.  Angie Thomas will be attending several film premier events that week, including one in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. We look forward to her campus visit in January!  Her public lecture will be at 7:00pm on 1/14/19 in Sottile Theatre. Stay tuned for more details.
