Division of Academic Affairs
The responsibility of the Provost is to provide academic vision and leadership. The Office of the Provost oversees academic programming including curriculum management; divisional budgets; and faculty and staff personnel matters including recruitment, promotion, and tenure. The Provost works closely with the deans of the academic schools, the Libraries, the Honors College, and the Graduate School. In addition, numerous other functions, including Registrar, Academic Experience, International Programs, Undergraduate Research, Institutional Research, Institutional Effectiveness, Strategic Planning, and Academic Assessment report under the Academic Affairs Division. Under our shared governance model, the Provost also works collaboratively with the Speaker of the Faculty and the Faculty Senate, the primary legislative body of the faculty. In summary, the Office of the Provost provides leadership for and supports the efforts of the faculty and staff who work to ensure that the mission of academic excellence is achieved.

Faculty Governance
At the heart of the collegial governance system at the College of Charleston, the Faculty Senate is the primary legislative body of College faculty. The senate makes recommendations on any matter under its purview to the president of the College.
