As a new employee in our division, please review the tips, links, and forms provided below and follow up with your supervisor or the appropriate office for the rest of your on-boarding needs. The information below is not meant to be a comprehensive collection of on-boarding forms and links. CofC Staff Appointments

Please uses (Internal PeopleAdmin Portal) to recruit and hire for permanent and/or temporary staff positions. Please contact HR for additional information. 

For Temporary Staff Appointments, HR has asked that supervisors please remember to submit the following forms when requesting to advertise or hire a temporary staff position: 

CofC Staff Access Management & Security Groups

For access to Banner data and/or update the finance related accesses, please complete the appropriate form below and submit it to your supervisor(s) for approval:

  • To request to be added to a security group and/or email group managed by Academic Affairs
  • To request access to a shared folder managed by Academic Affairs (ex: "Shared with Schools," "Shared with Depts Prgms," "Travel Authorizations," "Scanned")
  • To request access to division's Banner Document Management (BDM) system - NOTE: An approved Access Request Form - Banner INB Student...Data is required.

  • To request a Faculty tab in MyCharleston - NOTE: An approved faculty appointment is required.
  • To request a Workflow tab in MyCharleston or for a component (e.g. TE status reports) to be added to your Workflow tab
  • To request access to Activity Insight (the Faculty Activity System, FAS) - NOTE: faculty, chairs, deans, directors, and divisional staff may be granted access.

  • To request access to Blue (the Course/Instructor Evaluations system) - NOTE: Only faculty and administrators are granted access.

CofC Office 365 Accounts

Office 365 is the latest version of Microsoft’s productivity suite, and includes Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint, OneNote, and more. It is available for offline and online. 

  • Use with OneDrive for automatic device syncing. Staff receive 1 TB of storage.
  • Gain valuable skills on the world’s most popular productivity software
  • Use the same programs as your colleagues to ensure file compatibility
  • Co-author files in real-time. Share files with personalized access controls.

You can find all Office 365 services available using your by using your email address and password at the portal page:

  1. Go to  and type in your email address.
  2. Use your password that is used for all other CofC services.
  3. Click (or tap) on the Office 365 app launcher  iconoffice365 app launcher icon to see the menu of Office 365 web apps and services that are available to you. You can click on the app launcher icon while in any Office 365 web app to easily switch between applications.

Email access:

  • For all active Students and Alumni, Cmail, powered by Google, is the College's student email system. 
  • For active Staff and Faculty, email is provided using the campus Exchange mail system, accessible via

If you already have an Office 365 account set up, please review the MFA security settings on your account. You are required to provide two methods for the College to digitally authenticate your identity, called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Common methods include receiving a text and using an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator App or Microsoft Authenticator App.

If you recently added an authenticator app to your device and need to update your MFA settings, please complete the following: 

  1. Open the security verification page for your user:
  2. Check the Authenticator app box, and click the Configure button.
  3. Click the Configure app without notifications URL
  4. Now scan the QR code with your app and configure like normal.

Staff Professional Development & Training Opportunities

Investing in opportunities for staff professional development programming and training for the Academic Affairs Division is important to us. We welcome your feedback on ways we can help you address changing needs in technology and trends in higher education. Please email Anastasia Gilpatrick ( if you would like to request training on a specific software solution that is managed by Academic Affairs or a topic related to your work for Academic Affairs. Future professional development and training opportunities hosted by the Office of the Provost are forthcoming. 

In addition to opportunities offered on campus by the Office of Human Resources, Office of Institutional Diversity, and others, professional development support may be available within individual units and via the staff training grant program, which covers basic tuition and fees for up to four credit hours per term at the undergraduate or graduate level at the College of Charleston or other participating state institutions (e.g. The Citadel). Please feel free to explore these opportunities. Staff that are supported professionally and personally in their growth translates to enhanced student experiences throughout the university.

On the College's Staff Advisory Committee (SAC) website, we provide some helpful information about perks, awards, parking, free public transit, staff meal plans, parents, breastfeeding on campus, and childcare that may be useful to you.

The Academic Affairs Division is proud to be a part of the annual Celebration of Staff each spring to honor our staff and give recognition to those granted Employee of the Year, among other acknowledgements. This year's Celebration of Staff was held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in the TD Arena McAlister Hospitality Suite. The Excellence in Collegiate Education and Leadership (ExCEL) Awards ceremony honor students, staff, faculty and community members for their commitment to creating a campus environment that promotes diversity and excellence.
